Spotlight of the Week: 'The Sims'

By Ashley Logan on October 23, 2017

This week’s spotlight is on my favorite video game, The Sims. To put it simply, this game series is awesome.

The Sims games series started in 2000 and has improved with each new release. Game designer Will Wright came up with the idea to create a virtual dollhouse after he lost his home in a fire in 1991.

The first Sims game came out in February of 2000. This video game allows players to create their own virtual characters (sims) and have a field day with them. The Sims can be played on a computer or a console.

The first three Sims games were all good in their own ways, but the graphics improved with each release. You can see the evolution of the Sims game series with each Sims cover art:

Not only is the Sims fun to play, but it’s inclusive of all people. You can find LGBT options in the ‘Create-A-Sim’ gallery as well as people of all different complexions and ethnicities. The diversity makes it just that more enjoyable when you can see yourself represented. You can see a clip of Sims 4 gameplay here:
